The streets of the Municipality of Leeuwarden are becoming smarter thanks to StreetSense, the innovative sensor solution from Mobility Sensing. With live data from no fewer than 23 StreetSense devices, the municipality gains better insight into traffic movements in a sustainable, non-disruptive, and privacy-friendly manner. These insights contribute to making informed choices regarding the urbanization challenge and the further development of the city.
The rollout of StreetSense in Leeuwarden is taking place within the framework of the DMI Ecosystem (Dutch Mobility Innovations), a collaboration between government bodies, market parties, and knowledge institutions to put smart mobility solutions into practice. In addition to gaining insight into traffic flows, Leeuwarden is deploying StreetSense in practical applications where IoT sensing offers clear added value compared to conventional data collection methods. These use cases not only serve a municipal purpose but also serve to clarify the utility and role of IoT sensing – both within and outside the DMI ecosystem.
