Mobility Sensing wins tender for collection and delivery of bridge data

Mobility Sensing has been selected by National Road Traffic Data Portal (NDW) as data partner for the collection and delivery of bridge data (bridge-open / bridge-closed) of 141 bridges for the next 3 years. This is important data for road authorities such as Rijkswaterstaat and provinces to better inform road users about bridge openings. Mobility Sensing, which has also provided data collection with BridgeSense for the past four years, is pleased with the trust placed in it and the new assignment until 2024.

Extending and expanding sensor data collection
From October 1st 2021, all bridge locations will be equipped with BridgeSense sensors that will provide 24 x 7 current data over a period of three years. Mobility Sensing also takes care of the management, maintenance and control of the equipment and processes, validates and delivers the real-time data in DATEX II format to the central system of Blauwe Golf Verbindend. An improvement compared to the previous tender is that the sensors can indicate that the bridge is open within 2 seconds of switching on the bridge lights. Bridges that were already equipped with BridgeSense sensors will receive a technology upgrade so that the notification comes in even faster and road and waterway users are warned about a bridge opening during their route.

Proven robust technology
The BridgeSense sensor technology used for NDW has been specially designed to get movable bridges online. The sensor pods signal any change in situation of (waterway) roadblocks and warning lights and then report this via Blauwe Golf Verbindend and NDW to all popular traffic and navigation applications, on smartphones as well as in-dash.
