Last week, Mobility Sensing installed StreetSense in Amersfoort. As soon as the devices were deployed, they started providing live data about the condition and usage of Amersfoort’s streets.
With the StreetSense sensors, the Municipality of Amersfoort aims to monitor the progress of its mobility program. Additionally, development areas like De Nieuwe Poort and the Vrouwenpolder Boulevard lack sufficient traffic data, primarily due to the absence of traffic lights. StreetSense allows the municipality to establish a baseline traffic situation for these areas.
The rollout of StreetSense in Amersfoort is part of the Dutch Metropolitan Innovations (DMI) ecosystem. Besides being a participant in DMI, the Municipality of Amersfoort also hosts the DMI Centre, where governments and companies collaborate to develop new digital tools for mobility, public space, and housing. From now on, they can call on live StreetSense data from DMI-residence Amersfoort to enliven their exchanges!
